About this activity
Editor's Note
In this industry, we are often skeptical of the "city pass" model; usually, they are just clever ancillary revenue streams for DMOs rather than genuine value for the pax. However, anyone whose looked at a credit card bill after a weekend in Scandinavia knows the drill—high occupancy destinations equal high costs. The Copenhagen Card-Discover is a rare exception to the rule. It cuts through the noise of buying individual tickets and, more importantly, solves the headache of zone-based transport. If you are looking to maximize your personal RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Relaxation-moment, as I like to joke) and avoid the friction of constant tapping and paying, this digital pass is a solid lead. It essentially turns the whole city into an all-inclusive resort, minus the wristband.
About the Tour
For those planning to tackle the Danish capital, the Copenhagen Card-Discover is your digital skeleton key. This isn't just about skipping a line or two; it acts as a comprehensive sightseeing pass that grants free entrance to over 80 different museums and attractions. Whether you are doing a quick 24-hour layover or a full 120-hour deep dive, the card scales to fit your itinerary.
The logistics are surprisingly strightforward. You don't need to visit a physical kiosk to pick up a voucher. Instead, you simply redeem your unique 8-character code directly in the Copenhagen Card app whenever you want, and then activate it exactly when you're ready to start your tour.
Perhaps the biggest selling point for the budget-conscious traveler is the unlimited use of the transportation system. Copenhagen is walkable, but to really see the spread—from the harbor to the outlying castles—you need wheels. The card covers city buses, trains, the metro, and even the harbor buses.
You can learn more about Danish history at the Royal Palace or seek thrills at one of Europe’s oldest amusement parks. Below is a small selection of the heavy-hitters included in the pass:
- Tivoli Gardens (Access to the gardens; rides require seperate tickets)
- Canal Tours (The classic perspective from the water)
- Rosenborg Castle & Amalienborg Castle
- Kronborg Castle (Hamlet’s castle, a bit further out but worth the train ride)
- The National Museum & The Danish War Museum
- Design Museum Denmark
- Copenhagen Zoo
- Christiansborg - The Royal Reception Rooms
- ARKEN Museum of Modern Art
Not often do we see a product that covers both the "must-sees" and the transit required to reach them without hidden surcharges.
