About this activity
Editor's Note
Look, I’ve been in this business long enough to know when the industry is trying to sell you a buzzword. Right now, everyone is obsessed with "immersive" experiences because, quite frankly, they drive up the Average Daily Rate (ADR) and look fantastic on social media feeds. I walked into IKONO Copenhagen ready to roll my eyes at another "tourist trap" designed solely to boost footfall during the shoulder season. But I have to admit, I was wrong. This isn't just empty rooms with fancy projectors; it’s actually legitimate fun. Unlike some attractions that feel like they were designed by a spreadsheet to maximize throughput, IKONO feels like it was designed for people. It’s playful, it’s weird, and it completely made me forget I was supposed to be "working". If you are tired of museums where you have to whisper and stand behind a velvet rope, this is the breath of fresh air you probably need.
About the Tour
If you are looking for something that breaks the mold in Copenhagen, IKONO is where you need to be. It is located right in the heart of the city at Frederiksborggade 5, just a short hop from Nørreport station, making it incredibly easy to fit into your itinerary even if you're on a tight schedule.
This isn't your grandfather's art gallery. The experience spans about 12 unique rooms, each designed to completely mess with your senses in the best way possible. It takes the concept of art and turns it into a playground. Instead of just looking at things, you are part of the exhibit.
What you can expect inside:
- Creative Light Art: There is a room where you can draw with light using just your hands. It sounds techy, but it feels like magic.
- Nostalgia Trip: An arcade room that throws you straight back to the '80s.
- The Lantern Sanctuary: This was a personal favorite. After the chaos of the city, it’s a quiet space inviting you to slow down.
- The Silver Balloon Room: A mesmerizing space filled with endless reflections and 99 silver balloons. It is definetely the most photogenic spot in the building.
- Adult Ball Pit: Yes, you read that right. A massive ball pit that allows you to reconnect with your inner child without judgment.
IKONO markets itself as a place to "dream and play," and for once, the marketing copy isn't lying. It’s a fantastic spot whether you are dragging along a grumpy partner, hanging out with friends, or just want to escape the routine for an hour or two.
It’s a rare find in a city famous for its historic castles and serious design museums. Get your tickets, leave your coat at the door, and just enjoy the ride.
